Greeting friends. Well it's been awhile but not for lack of wanting to blog but just been so busy. Let's see where to start....my dad has been battling a very serious setback with his Diabetes. A hospital stay and now Oxyen Chamber therapy is what he is fighting back with so we are hopeful that when the treatments end he will be well on the road to recovery.

I MOVED!!! YES we left the lake house and moved to the city. WHY you ask? To be truthful just to be closer to family. We were an hour and 20 minutes away and now we are 10-15 minutes from almost all of our family. It does make it nice but I do miss the beauty of the lake. I know I will find my " ZEN" spots here in the city but with it smack in the middle of winter it's a little hard to see the pot of gold so to speak.

I have been busy stitching when time allows. Here are a couple of finishes :

Pretties....

Hello friends. How is your weekend going? Very WHITE at the lake today with all of the snow. The winds have died down but the flakes are still falling. Very pretty to look at but venturing out in it is as I'm sure most of you know another story.

I've been up since 5:30 this morning and since I couldn't go back to sleep I just got up and started tackling the day. Laundry, breakfast dishes,kitchen and bathroom floors swept and mopped,fresh set of rugs down in bathroom, litter box cleaned, vacuumed the other rooms,and dusting have all been accomplished. The house looks good now if only I could keep it that way. ;)

I have my "fake" fireplace heater on. Do you have one of these heater that look like a fire is going? I LOVE LOVE LOVE ours. It really heats up the room and the fire looks great with-out all of the mess of a real one going. Not to mention since it's just me and Mr. D aka kitty cat here all day it's much more economical to heat just the room we're in instead of the entire house. It , the heater, has saved us much money already this year.

I did get quite a bit more stitching done last night on the PS but will take pics later today as I hope to finish it!

Instead of stitching pics I wanted to share a few "pretties" with you today. Here is my newest Bible:

It's a beautiful book with silver edged pages. It was a gift at Christmas and I couldn't enjoy it more.

The other "pretty" I wanted to share was a couple of beautiful boxes I picked up at the Family Dollar store for well a few dollars.

They are a heavy duty cardboard box lined with pretty rose paper. I keep them full of floss and new packages of needles and have one on my desk and the other on my bookshelf in the living room. Do you see the little silk tassels hanging down....my cat loves them. lol lol

Okay I had better get back to my remaining chores. I need to mend a pair of slacks for DH and attach a few loose buttons on a couple of my sweaters.

Hello friends. It's a very cold blustery day at the lake.We have around 3 to 4 inches of snow with more expected today and wind gusts up to 45 mph. Brrrrr.......

It's Friday the 13th. and I was wondering are you superstitious? Black cats and and walking under ladders?

Good morning friends. The sun is out and the birds are slowly flying down for a bite to eat on this Monday morning. How was your weekend? Mine was uneventful just like I like it.

I thought I would share a pic of a few of my Narcissus bulbs that have opened up just beautifully and oh how I wish I could share the scent with you. Please pay no mind to my wrinkled curtain. Curtain pull backs wreak havoc.

Last night PBS Masterpiece did not disappoint with the premier of season two of Downton Abby. I tried to stitch while watching it but there is so much to see I wasn't too successful as you can see on my progress of PS's V* W* X.

Are you watching Downton Abby? Of course our friends across the pond already have had the pleasure of seeing the entire season 2 ....lucky ladies and gents they are!!

Today I hope to stitch a bit and continue organizing the front closet. I have two huge boxes and one large bag already filled for donations so our unwanted "stuff" will hopefully live again with others who want or need it.

Achoo.. and Downton Abbey...

Hello friends. How are you? Not much stitching this week. My dad (the best dad in the world) was admitted to hospital from have a very bad sore on his toe. Now in most cases this would be not a bog deal but dad has Diabetes and any sore or wound is a cause for concern. It was also found that dad has a clot in his leg as a result of the wound on his foot. Dad now must take daily Insulin shots, blood pressure pills and be more adamant about his diet. Dad is a very fit man but his diet on most days is not so fit. This really scared dad as it did all of his children and family members. BUT there is hope as dad gas been given a second chance and is really putting 100% into eating right and taking his medication. We know there is a tough road ahead but hope springs eternal for dad.

While I was shopping at Rite-Aid I came across these pocket/purse tissues from Kleenex.

Not only very useful but too cute. Go grab some up while you can. I have them in my purse, coat pocket, Dh's coat, the glove box,my stitching bag and in my desk drawers.

I have some blog reading to catch up on today. I'm looking forward to watching the season 2 first episode of Downton Abbey this coming Sunday so I'm currently re-watching last season so I will be on par with the new episode.Planning to grab the PS X and start stitching on it again. YEAH!!!

Progress and Pine-Sol

Hello friends. How is your week going? Be honest have you written or typed 2011 instead of 2012? I have one too many times today. :)

Today was all about cleaning. From floor to ceiling well ceiling fans I have kept busy and now the little lake house not only looks clean but smells like Lavender Pine-Sol. Pine Sol has always reminded me of my grannie's house. She would use it everyday and her house always smelled CLEAN....VERY CLEAN. Speaking of smelling good my Narcissus bulbs I planted indoors are starting to open and the scent is amazing.

Well the dryer just buzzed and I must go and Mr. D's aka kitty cat bedding out and make his bed so that he can look at it before he jumps in my chair. LOL LOL

Hello friends. How was the first day of 2012 for you? I actually got started on one of my planned projects. I started on Prairie Schooler's V*W*X. I'm stitching on the X part of it.

This is just a start as to what I WANT to stitch this year. I haven't even included all of the Christmas Ornaments I want and have been asked to stitch. I can't wait to see the new ornaments from LHN.

It's currently snowing at the lake. We have about an inch of snow and it's still coming down heavy. I'm looking forward to taking a walk later with my new winter boots on and to snap some pictures.

For now I must set down the laptop and start on laundry. My first load of laundry in 2012...lol lol lol

Hello friends. Sitting here at my desk looking outside and can barely see across the street due to the heavy rain. The lake is very beautiful this time of year with the emptiness of the boaters, fishermen, and swimmers. Just beautiful ducks, Swans and various other birds perching time to time.

Is it really time to say farewell to 2011? I found it to be a very difficult year health wise but friends, family and stitching it was a very prosperous year for me. I do have a few goals for 2012 including moving,getting healthier, learning to knit( which to be honest was a goal for 2011),spending more time laughing with my family and of course stitching goals galore.

I'm going to create on the sidebar my list of stitching goals and before I buy ANYTHING stitching related I have to at least start on one of the goals. I also plan on learning/trying different finishing techniques.

My first stitch of the year will be starting on a much loved design that I have stitched in small pillow form but want to , in keeping with another one of my goals of having more wall hangings, have as a framed piece and that is PS X is for Cross Stitch. I have it ready to go for Sunday.

Tomorrow I will finish shredding more 2011 bills, not needed receipts and such. I also need to set up a 2012 Financial spread sheet and a 2012 bill/receipt file. Then I hope to set up a spreadsheet for my 2012 stitching. I really want to keep better track of stitching goals, gifts sent and received and so on. I wish I had done this all along but at least I'm doing it now.

Well the rain has slowed to a pitter patter so I better get an umbrella and head out for a walk.

Hello friends and MERRY CHRISTMAS to all of you.

Busy time around the lake. Still trying to regain my strength and for every two steps forward there is one step back but as long as I'm still going forward is really all that matters.

I have been visiting the blogs this morning and plan to visit each and every one of you sometime today. Such eye candy all of you have gifted us stitchers with. From homemade yummy goodies to hand stitched gifts you ladies are a marvelous.

They flew Virgin Airlines for the first time and they loved it. A very unique experience form what I hear.

Getting ready to head out the door for a walk around the lake before the rain moves in. Today is the first day on Winter but we are in the 40's with rain feels more like the beginning SPRING.

Hello friends. A beautiful albeit cold day here at the lake today. While on my walk today I spied three cars with Christmas trees on top with young children in the back seats all smiling and laughing. I remember those days when getting the tree meant only a month until Santa comes.

Congratulations to Mangogirl for winning the SB kit. She lives in Australia which excites me for a couple of reasons. First because I have never sent anything to Australia so another continent will be conquered on my places I have sent and secondly I LOVED the show McLeod's Daughters so much that I wanted to uproot the family and move there. lol

Day 7 of the TS Exchange was opened this morning and here is what Amy gifted me with :

I'm what you call in the stitching world LINEN POOR....lol....seriously I have no craft store near me and ordering online has proven a few too many times to be disappointing to what the colors looks like online versus what it look like in person. So todays' gift got a hoot and a holler from me.

Tis the Season......

Hello friends. It's Tuesday and the lake survived the flooding...well most of it did. There are a few local roads closed but the forecast shows it should get better.

Here is the FINISH of the Brooke's Books Mrs. Claus I finished for my niece Lily. I wrapped it up in tissue paper and sent it out in today's mail and hope my niece gets it by Saturday. I have stitched this design before for my mom only I sued a small Santa Claus button on the apron pocket. I was going to use the same button again but the Gingerbread button kept screaming for me to use him. I stitched this on perforated plastic using the required floss. I used a green felt backing. I hope my niece will have it to hang on her own tree one day.

Today is of course day 6 of the TS Advent Exchange and I was treated with these beautiful Cardinal pocket tissues and a much needed and coveted pack of Bohin needles. Now would you be able to blow your nose on tissues so beautiful?

How is your Tuesday going? Have you started your Christmas shopping yet? I will say that I am blessed that there is no holiday pressure to BUY BUY BUY in my family. We taught our girls that Christmas was and is about love and to celebrate the birth of Jesus. Now our girls will say that Christmas is for the children and it's so true. I find it so sad that people go in DEBT to try and make everyone in their family happy. I have a friend who buys for over 75 people in her family....can you imagine? I say do what you can and don't sweat what you can't do. Also I always find the best gifts are the ones from the heart such as making or baking for someone. The Advent Exchange I'm involved in is pure fun and there is no pressure to try and out do each other ...just small "thinking of you gifts" that we gather over time and send with love. I hope your holidays are full of love and laughter.

Tonight I hope to finish another ornament and hang some lights around the house. Speaking of twinkling lights do you prefer colored or clear lights on your tree?

Ohhhhh Auntiemimi pleeaase........

Hello friends. Oh what a blustery and wet day at the lake today. I will be wearing my galoshes for my walk today.

I stayed up much too late last night stitching away of ornament gifts. My 6 year-old niece was helping my mom her grandmother decorate the tree when she, my niece,spied a Brooke's Books ornament I had stitched for my mom years ago. Well Niece said to me : Ohhhhh Auntiemimi pleeaase make me one." So how could I say no. Out came the pattern, perforated plastic, floss and beads. I even managed to find the another button that is exact to the one I used on my mom's ornament. I hope to take a pic later today as it hopefully will be finished in a couple of more hours worth of work.

It's already day 5 of the TS Advent Exchange and today my partner Amy gifted me with these beautiful Poinsettia coasters. I already placed them through out the house and they added so much beauty.

How is your Monday going? Any plans this week? I am keeping my promise to downsize my stash. I will be holding another contest this week just as long as you don't mind gently used items?

Sunday Candle and time running out.....

Hello friends. A gray rainy Sunday here at the lake today BUT I will still take my daily stroll only with an umbrella and gloves. ;)

Confession time.....I'm addicted to watching Christmas movies on the Hallmark channel. I look forward to making a "nest" on the couch and stitching while the sounds of Christmas music with great stories play out on the old telly. Although today I'm finally going to start on the series Once Upon a Time. Has anyone seen this? Thoughts?

This morning on Day 4 of the TS Advent Exchange my partner Amy gifted me with a yummy smelling candle.

I love candles and as soon as I opened it it was lit, so minutes later the entire L.R smelled so good.

How is your holiday stitching coming along? I can't believe that Christmas is in only 21 days. I really need to get busy......maybe I can go with-out sleep. lol

Hello friends. How is your weekend going so far? The sun is out and warming the lake...well maybe not warming the water but the lake looks warm.

Today is YOGA day. I need to get back to stretching and building up my core strength so I'm looking forward to rolling out the mat and hotting the floor.. My youngest DD is amazing at Yoga She has been practicing since her teens and let me tell you.from headstands to everything else she is sooooo limber and strong. I admire her dedication to the practice of Yoga.

How are the ladies out west with all of these strong winds? I lived in Cali for years and those Santa Anna's are no joke. Whenever we have strong winds here I still call them Santa Anna winds....not to many people get what I'm talking about but that's the fun of it.:)

Peppermint Socks......

Hello friends. I have one word for this morning...BRRRRRR......okay perhaps it's just COLD but BRRRRR is all I can form. I just turned the furnace on so I should be warming up soon.

Today is the 2nd. day of the TS Advent Exchange and this morning I opened up these SWEET socks.

I also joined the Christmas card exchange on the TS board and the cards I have received so far are all so unique and wonderful. It makes me smile to see and read all the love my fellow TS sisters have for me and I equally for them. I think it's just AMAZING how the internet has untied us all.

How is you Christmas stitching coming along? I have one more finished and ready to send. Starting on another PS Santa this afternoon. I love PS ornaments.

Well I had better go whip up a Banana bread batter to bake up for DH's late afternoon snack.

Christmas Gift...

Hello friends. Can you believe it's December? Where did 2011 go? Here is a picture of the snow that is still lingering. I thought this tree in front of our house looked festive.

Today starts the TS aka Tranquil Stitchers Advent Exchange. My partner is Amy and on Day 1 she sent me a package of ME note cards. I love anything Mary Engelbreit so these cards are much loved!

I have also received 3 Christmas cards already so the house is getting in the spirit with decorations and such. Have you started decorating? Tree up?

Heading out in about 20 minutes to walk up to Rite-Aid and buy some Candy Canes for the tree and on the way home I hope the ducks are hungry because I have a special treat for them. :)

Cake ...

Hello friends. We had a very windy night last night which resulted in losing internet connection for most of the day. DD is all moved out.....I'm handling it as well as I can. Honestly the smile on her face made me so happy for her.

Not much stitching today but I did manage to bake a beautiful cake for DH's birthday. The old man is enjoying a piece of chocolate orange cake as I type this. :)

Tomorrow starts my TS Advent Exchange where all involved were partnered up and sent their partner 25 gifts to be opened 1 each day until Christmas. I finally found out my partner's parcel arrived over-seas safe and sound. I was getting pretty worried about it. I will post pics tomorrow of what I receive on day 1.

It snowed here at the lake this evening. Very pretty to see all of the pine trees with a layer of snow on them. I noticed tonight while taking my evening walk that this year more neighbors have their homes decorated outside for Christmas. It's so nice to see.

My camera is not sharing with my computer tonight so no pics but hopefully I will figure out the problem.

Short post tonight as I want to see if DD needs help packing up the last of her things.

Today for every minute that I stitched I spent double that FROGGING!!! I sent that frog packing after the 7th. time so be on the look out!! :)

Times are a changing....

Hello friends. How has your Sunday been going? Chilly and rainy here at the lake but I did mange to get a walk in before the rain became to much. Today I concentrated on stitching a few more ornaments. Two are gifts and the one above is a fun little design I have stitched before on paper , linen and plastic canvas. This one will be my mom's and I will be stitching her a chicken design to go with it.

My youngest DD will be moving out on Wed. which also happens to be her birthday. I'm having a hard time with it but trying my hardest to not show it to her. Don't get me wrong ,I'm very happy and proud of her but all I know to be is a mom. I have been a mom since I was 19 and before that I lived in a big family house so starting this week it will only be DH and myself and I just don't know how to feel.

I look forward to seeing my sweet baby girl's smile everyday. She is a wonderful person and I love being around her. Last year my fabulous eldest DD moved cross country to start her life and now my baby will be gone. I know it's all part of life but boy oh boy it's an emotional roller coaster. DEEP BREATH...lol

Tomorrow I hope to carve out an hour to go through my stash and pull some charts and such to offer another contest or two this week. I also hope to start on another gift this time for my youngest sister who LOVES Christmas tree ornaments.

Hello friends. How was your Saturday? I kept busy cleaning and doing all the laundry in the house. Tomorrow I plan to start decorating for Christmas.

Speaking of Christmas here is my finished PS Santa stitched on some left over fabric from a project I did for a friend. Not my fave fabric but the Santa really "POPS" off that color in person.

Hello friends. I hope all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I know I did. It was very low key but exactly what I needed. I did manage to get some stitching accomplished along with doing all the dishes. :)I made a few more stitching needs tins. I love this time of year when you can find the holiday themed gift card tins. They are not only cute but for just a dollar you can't go wrong with the price. These two will be flying through the mail system soon to arrive in time for Christmas for a couple of blog friends who asked me to make them one. Of course I will be adding a couple of surprises inside.Did you go BLACK FRIDAY shopping? Hello friends and Brrrrrr!! Chilly and rainy Tuesady here at the lake today. But THANKFULLY we should have nice weather this Thanksgiving Thursday.

Since we are staying home again this Thanksgiving I get to relax while DH who is a Chef makes the entire main course. I of course get dessert duty. What's on your holiday menu? Desserts?

Sewing tins.....

Hello friends. WOW is all I can say to the response I have received for the LHN chart. I recieved over 25 e-mails so far not to mention the 10 bloggers who left a message on the original post. I will have to start holding contest every week which will not only benefit you but will help me clean out my stash.

Okay here are the snaps of the Sewing tins I make.

I use any small tin like Altoids but these sewing themed tins I purchased at JoAnn's Fabric are really nice because I don't need to decorate the top as the artwork fits into my sewing theme.

Inside

I use these sticky back business card magnets to stick to the top inside lid to hold needles and such. The bottom I line with sticky back felt.

My oldest tin is about 4 years old and has been thrown into my sewing bag and purse so many times but looks like I just made it. These are so handy as they hold quite a few floss bobbins besides scissors, needles and needle minders.

Tonight I will be stitching on BBD Snowy Eve while watching DWTS.

Hello friends. I hope all of you had a lovely Sunday. I know I did. I took a wonderful lazy stroll around the lake today. Came home and had a delicious lite lunch. Spent a couple of hours stitching and my day was topped off with my eldest DD calling us. So a great day indeed.

I did mange to organize my Christmas charts and in doing so found that I have 2 LHN'S CARDINAL WINTER so I decided to give the extra one away here on my blog. Hello dear friends and fellow stitchers. I want to apologize for posting about my health issues. I made a promise to myself that I wanted to have a blog that was fun and uplifting. I appreciate all of your well wishes and will now get back to being HAPPY.

I spent a good hour mending today. From slacks to sweaters I really enjoyed fixing every article of clothing that needed it. I do get so much enjoyment seeing a hole in a sweater disappear. :)

Have you braved the stores yet to gather all of your Thanksgiving needs? I still need to.....so wish me luck.

Oh how I took my health for granted when I was younger. I FEEL like I'm 200 years old....not that I know how that feels but I can imagine. It's difficult to even see the holes in my plastic canvas. Heck it's difficult to see!!! lol

Hello friends and fellow stitchers. I'm a little under the weather today added to my still yet to be diagnosed condition I'm feeling pretty puny today. I think I just need to drink a nice cup of Chamomile tea, grab a little ornament to stitch and throw 4 or 5 heavy blankets on myself and relax. Oh if only it was that easy.

But I will make time to read my BLOGs I belong to. I do get so inspired to pick up a needle after reading and seeing all of your lovely WIPS and finishes and I THANK YOU for that.

Greetings friends.A very bleak day at the lake today. Not even the ducks came out for their morning meal today but a few did manage to come for lunch.

I want to thank everyone for commiserating with me on the unexpected "floss toss" accident. lol lol Every bobbin is accounted for now.

I spent the day cleaning the house. I wish I would get a round of applause for having every piece of laundry done. LOL

I received my Advent Exchange parcel from a member aka stitching sister from a stitching group I belong to. I have to wait until Dec.1st to open the box but just knowing that there is 25 presents in this box is driving me crazy.LOL LOL

I finished a gift last night for a fellow blogger so no pics but I really love how I finished it. Tonight I'm kitting up BBD Snowy Eve stocking design.To be honest I was inspired by BECKY'S finish. You must check it out.....it's so beautiful.

Scissor storage idea.....

Hello friends. I do hope all of you are well and enjoying the weekend or at least what's left of your weekend. Today I decided to risk my life and dive right in and organize my craft walk- in closet. The good news is that I found lost charts I forgot I had bought and traded for the bad news that I need more time for stitching. lol

I also realized that I am fabric LINEN POOR!! I have very little fabric. Honestly I could count the amount of linen I have on two hands with a couple of left over fingers. I so wish I we had an LNS near me but as it is I must travel well over an hour a way and well my health is right now allowing me to do this. I know I can order fabric online BUTTTTTT in the past I have been disappointed with what I thought was the color only to recieve and find a much darker or really off base color. I guess I will have to start asking all of you what color to order because YOU I trust!!

Here is a fun way to store a pair or two of scissors:

It's the bottom of a perfume bottle. The top broke so I decided to use it as a small bud vase but quickly found that my scissors would look just as well in there. Do you like it?

Okay I must get off my behind and grab some duck food and head down the street to that lake as I know my feathered friends are waiting for their Sunday treat.

Charmed I'm sure

This little Mill Hill kit called Charmed Mitten is my newest start. I love these little kits as they make it really easy to grab and stitch. This will be a gift or perhaps a hang tag on a gift.

I spent the afternoon wrapping Advent gifts for an exchange I belong to on a stitching board. I sure hope that my partner will like all of her goodies. I know that I would love to have a box full of presents from me! lol lol

Okay I'm off to bed which by the time I finish all of my nightly chores such as clean the litter box, lock doors, fold the last load of laundry, prep the coffee maker and so on , I will eventually get to bed around 10:30. I'm starting a new book tonight called The Seamstress.

Hello friends. The wind has finally died down here at the lake but the temps have dropped and it's cooooolllldddd! Sitting in front of my fake fireplace heater and enjoying the feeling of having a sweater on.

I did manage to finish a stitchy gift last night and started working on a PS Santa ornament. I also dug out this Brooke's Books gem to start. I love stitching on perforated paper and the bead-work really punches up the design.

Are you ready for Thanksgiving? I think I will stay home and take it easy this year.Not sure yet what we will be cooking up this year but I know my list of THANKS grows everyday.

Do you have a holiday signature dish? Mine would be Banana Pudding made with both Banana pudding and Chocolate pudding as well as Vanilla Wafers and of course Bananas all layered.I never use instant pudding and I layer it in the deepest bowl I can find free of use. DH makes a mean pie....any flavor pie he truly is the Pie Man!

Heading out for another brisk walk before the sunsets. These little walks help build up my strength and really helps my stress level.

Hellooooo friends. It's a blustery day here at the lake today. The clouds looked menacing and dared me to take a walk. But walk I did to the local Rite Aid were I picked up a few goodies including my Christmas cards. I know I know but there is a sprint in my family to see who can send out their cards first so I think I'm in the running to win this year. :)

Busy stitching Christmas designs that will eventually traveling around the globe for friends.

Tonight I will be kitting up 4 more ornaments....just hope I have the time to stitch them all and mail them off in time.

Greetings everyone. I had a very LOUD day due to all the end of the year paper shredding that needed to be done. The good news is it's done the bad news I can still hear that little shredder. lol

As promised here is my little gem of an ornament.

LHN-He's A flake

It is of course an LHN ornament and having it stitched it so many times I should be able to stitch it again with-out looking at the chart. Okay maybe I'm not that good but have you ever stitched a design so many times it seems like deja vu using the same fabric and the same floss. The problem is those darn LHN ornaments because once someone sees it they want it stitched and since I'm the designated stitcher it's up o me.

Tonight I will be stitching another ornament while watching DWTS.

In my Dream World......

In my DREAM WORLD I own this house. Yes this house needs some major TLC but ever since I moved to the lake about 15 years ago this house has haunted me. This house has been for sale now for a little over a year and if I had the money it would be mine.

I pass it everyday while walking and truth be told I purposely walk just to visit it to see if it's been sold yet. This house calls my name....Missy....find a way...play the lottery.....buy me....fix me...love me. Okay okay I need a wee bit of help.

The funny thing about this house is that when I stand in front of it it heals me. I can let go of all my troubles and dream a little dream. I won't admit to you how many times I have taken the VT--Virtual Tour online of this little gem.

I know that I must let go of this obsession with this house but darn it I don't want to. lol

Hello everyone and thanks for stopping by. Today has been a relaxing day spent in front of the telly watching Hallmark Channel's Christmas movies while stitching Christmas ornaments. Not a bad way to spend the day of I do say so myself.

What have all of you been up to on the First Saturday in November? Rather chilly here at the lake and I only see a handful of trees with still lingering leaves. Are you ready for winter? I'm not!!! Oh I have the provisions but I'm never ready for the ice and the shoveling of snow. It is pretty to look at but when you have to go out and deal with one get's rather a miserable view of the season.

Okay I'm off to clean the kitchen. Hopefully tomorrow I will have a Christmas ornament finish to share.'

Greetings everyone. I thank all of you who wished me well on birthday yesterday. I did enjoy quite a bit of stitching and even managed to finish one.

I love stitching LHN ornaments not only because they are beautiful but because Diane makes great easy to read charts. Thank you Diane!!

Today I'm starting on another LHN ornament which I have stitched TWICE in the past but one was for a family member and the other an exchange so this one will be for our tree at home. Speaking of trees I went to the Dollar General store yesterday and they have full size trees up and decorated.Really gets one in the mood for the holidays.

So I have to ask when do you put your tree up? I usually do it a week before Thanksgiving. But this year I will put up a smaller tree and may do it sooner so I can start hanging my stitched ornaments up.

Happy Birthday To Me....

Today is my BIRTHDAY. I love birthdays and don't mind a bit that I'm turning 30.....ahem...cough...cough. Okay so maybe I'm a wee bit older....ahem...cough...cough.

I have enjoyed a quiet day all to myself watching videos, stitching and making Origami Cranes from a kit my eldest DD sent as a gift.

No other plans other than just relaxing since I'm still recovering from a severe illness a few months ago BUT I'm thankful for the quiet and my stitching.

Speaking of stitching I have a Christmas Ornament half completed and hope to finish it tonight. Makes me smile just looking over at it and seeing all the beautiful colors.

Well I'm sure I have bored you but I do want to say I appreciate all of you more than you know.

November is here and I love it. November is my birthday month, Thanksgiving and the beginning of Christmas Stitching for me. I joined Becky's Christmas Ornament Challenge which I hope will give me even more incentive to stitch up all the ornaments I have challenged myself to complete.

I did manage a quick Thanksgiving finish yesterday. I had stitched this up awhile ago but finally got it put together.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!!! I love this time of year when the leaves are falling, the air is a bit nippy and the candy is flowing. :)

I did manage a couple more finishes just in time.

I don't have the designers name in front of me but when I can I will edit to add info. The little witch is sewn on perforated plastic and I did cheat by making her a felt hat. Truth be told I did stitch the hat but I didn't like how it turned out as there was just too much white canvas peaking through the black floss.

Halloween Ornies finished....

Brrrrrr....tis a wee bit chilly here at he lake today. We are expecting frost this weekend and I'm just not ready for it. Luckily we will bounce back to the lower 70's on Monday.

The good thing about this cold snap it that it has kept me wanting to snuggle on the couch under a quilt and keep my hands busy stitching. I managed to finish quite a few things this week. Some are gifts the others are for fun to decorate with.

The first one is the one and only Halloween Sock Monkey form the JCS Halloween edition magazine. I stitched him on a beautiful purple fabric.

The second one is from The Floss Box and it's a sweet little witch. I just LOVE The Floss Box as their patterns are so fast to receive via downloads and you can't beat the prices!!

The third one is a freebie from Bag Lady In Stitches. I took liberties with this design and used quite a few buttons. Makes it "POP" to life. Boo Humbug....how cute is that!

Tonight I hope to finish a Quaker Chicken Humbug cushion.

I really miss not having a JoAnn's Fabric close to me. The nearest place for me to purchase DMC is over an hour away and wouldn't you know it last night I ran out 3371. I know-- I know 3371 is like 310 and white floss...you must always have at least 5 skeins on hand. And if JoAnn's wouldn't have closed I would indeed have 5 and for sure more on hand of the most used colors. But alas I must now find an online store that sells DMC cheaply. Any clues as to where to look?

Well I here the kettle whistling so it's time for a warm cup of Green Tea and some much needed blogger reading.

Hermit Stitching....

Hello hello. I had a great weekend of stitching. Participating in the IHSW all weekend really gave me an excuse...err I mean a REASON to take it easy and stitch until I couldn't hold my needle anymore. I really enjoyed stitching on perforated paper. I wish I could find a brown perforated plastic to stitch on.

I decided to make it a HALLOWEEN weekend by stitching two designs from the new JCS Halloween collection book and a great little pumpkin man from JCS Halloween ornie magazine.

All I need now it to put them all together and decide how I'm going to display them.

Looking forward to see what all the other Hermitters have stitched up.

International Hermit and Stitch Weekend...

Back to the blog.....at long last. I won't bore you with too many details but I had a very bad reaction to an Antibiotic which resulted in a hospital stay, over 25lbs. of weight loss and a very slow healing process. I'm feeling better everyday...knock-on-wood that it continues. On Monday I notified the winner of the LHN chart from my last post and she e-mailed me back asking if I could wait to post her name because she was wanted to do a RAK to another stitcher who had entered my contest. So I'm sending the chart not to the winner but some other lucky stitcher who entered. From what I understand from the winner the recipient will be very surprised by what all she is receiving. I just LOVE surprising people!!!

Good morning or afternoon to everyone. It's a beautiful HOT and HUMID day in my part of Oz. The air conditioner has been running non-stop. The good news is that my plants in my itty bitty garden are thriving in this weather. Here are a few snips of my favorite beauties:

Okay speaking of ornaments I need your opinion. I don't stuff my ornaments to look like pillow ornaments instead I use a stiff board covered with batting. My problem is I'm not sure that when I give ornaments to other stitcher's if they necessarily like this finishing method. So how do you like your ornaments finished?

Hello Hello!!! Long time no blog. :) I took some time off blogging but I'm back now! A real emotional time for me since the beginning of the year. A few health problems and a bout with depression which I'm owning up to and plan to beat. So please feel free to help me by just being you and giving me all the wonderful eye candy all of you display on your blogs daily.

I have been busy stitching this entire time. Nothing big but I have put a dent in my Christmas ornament stitching. Plus I have been spending an hour a day organizing my stash. I even managed to put a huge box together to donate for a friend who is teaching cross stitch to young girls.

Here are a few snips of what I was into last night.

Beads, Floss Ribbons...oh my. Have you seen the Prairie Schooler's? What do you think? I think I like them all. LOL July marks my 7 month of NO NEW STASH for myself let's hope I can hold out a few months longer. Although I have been lucky in the TRADE department so that I have been able to acquire a few of the new LHN ornaments this year and a few other goodies. Speaking of which I will be holding a contest for a few of the LHN 2011 ornaments on Monday so do stop by.

Back from Oz.........

Hello Everyone. How long has it been since I last blogged....oh about two months ago. Loads of things have been happening in my life but I won't bore you with the long tedious details. Let's just say I took a trip to Oz and finally clicked my heels and found out that truly "there is no place like home". Now I want to THANK ALL OF YOU for not being like me and keeping your blogs updated because as I have been walking on the Yellow Brick Road of life your blogs have been the RAINBOW in my everyday life. I call it my "mini vacation" when I get to log online take a deep breath and lose myself in your lives. So again THANK YOU so much.

I have been busy stitching so I have loads to share so I will start out with little gem from BRD. A stitch starter holder...who knew our handy little starters needed a stitched home....but you know this really is handy. This one is a gift but the next one will be for my basket of goodies.

This weekend I will be working on a Pin Cube. I have never made one but looking forward to trying my hand at one.

Goal List for 2011..........Gain Weight!

To make a Goal List for 2011 has been on my mind lately. On my walk this morning I made up my mind and decided that I won't make a Goal list for stitching. Stitching is the one major thing in my life that truly brings me happiness and peace so why would I want to make myself feel like I HAVE to stitch something in a certain amount of time. Although please don't get me wrong I am one of those who needs to have structure to a certain point but in the grand scheme of things I don't need another DEADLINE in my life. LOL So I will stick to stitching from the heart and be happy with that. I do have a pile about a foot high of design I want to stitch but again I will let my heart rule this pile too.

Also for 2011 I decided TO GAIN 5 lbs. I honestly need to lose weight but hey why not have a goal for myself I CAN DO!! :)

I've been nursing my throat and being a good girl by relaxing. In doing so I have been reading blogs and it seems to be the season of the KINDLE. I'm reading over and over how wonderful this device is, almost life changing. Well I could use a good change in life and I sure could use the free space in my bag from all the books I carry.So my question of the day is : Do you have a spare Kindle I could borrow....for life?" :0)
Thought I would give it a shot. LOL LOL

We have a Winter Storm Advisory here in my neck of Ohio for most of Saturday.Which wouldn't be so bad if DH and DD didn't have to work and be on the road. I will once again be home and baking. I can at least have the house warm and full of yummy foods for the weary travelers.

How are all of you? Have you started your Christmas shopping yet? I have 5 more gifts to purchase and then I'm done shopping.I also will be putting together a Care package for my eldest DD who will be having Chritmas with her love. My first Christmas without her....I will be heart broken inside but must put on a happy face for her which in truth I really am happy for her!!

It snowed all afternoon and into evening here. Beautiful but icy conditions on the roads are not my dream snow day. But it is the first snow fall of the season and is enchanting.

I had to laugh to myself reading Christina's comment because I have in front of me on my desk 11 finished ornaments I need to pack and mail off to family and to be honest I really WANT TO KEEP 5 of them . LOL I know I can always re-stitch them for my tree BUT I will probably never get around to it. I think the FIVE I want to keep were also the FIVE I loved stitching every stitch on. The only reason I won't keep them is because I know the recipient of each ornament will love them as much I do. Have you ever stitched a gift and wanted to keep it? Did you? :)

Tomorrow brings Us December......I'm not prepared. lol

I baked a chocolate cake with chocolate icing from scratch today and I've been told it's one of the best cakes I ever made so I'm on cloud nine about it. After dinner I plan to taste it for myself and may have to where my sweat pants tomorrow because it so rich and decadent in every sense of the word.

Tree is up as well as lights, wreaths and stockings. As soon as my camera charges I will take pics. I also have sitting next to me in a basket with 4 more finished stitchy gifts. I love see my gift basket fill up. I hope to get to Hallmark next week to pick up some wrapping paper and gift boxes.

Is it boring of me to say once again "still stitching"? LOL-- I think my fingers are permanently fused in the "holding a needle" position. I only see Christmas colors and I'm finding ORTS where I shouldn't be.

I think I sat or three hours straight today while watching the UGLY BETTY marathon on the TV Guide channel just because I didn't want to get up and look for the remote which I later found on top of my stove....hmmmmm I think I need more caffeine. :)

How to Treat the man in your life.....

m a 1950's high school home economics textbook, teaching girls how to prepare for married life.

1. Have dinner ready: Plan ahead, even the night before, to have a delicious meal on time.

This is a way of letting him know that you have been thinking about him, and are concerned about his needs. Most men are hungry when they come home and the prospects of a good meal are part of the warm welcome needed.

2. Prepare yourself: Take 15 minutes to rest so you will be refreshed when he arrives. Touch up your make-up, put a ribbon in your hair and be fresh looking.
He has just been with a lot of work- weary people. Be a little gay and a little more interesting. His boring day may need a lift.

3. Clear away the clutter. Make one last trip through the main part of the house just before your husband arrives, gathering up school books, toys, paper, etc. Then run a dust cloth over the tables.
Your husband will feel he has reached a haven of rest and order, and it will give you a lift, too.

4. Prepare the children: Take a few minutes to wash the children's hands and faces if they are small, comb their hair, and if necessary, change their clothes.
They are little treasures and he would like to see them playing the part.

5. Minimize the noise: At the time of his arrival, eliminate all noise of washer, dryer, dishwasher or vacuum. Try to encourage the children to be quiet.
Be happy to see him. Greet him with a warm smile and be glad to see him.

6. Things to avoid: Don't greet him with problems or complaints. Don't complain if he's late for dinner.
Count this as minor compared with what he might have gone through that day.

7. Make him comfortable: Have him lean back in a comfortable chair or suggest he lie down in the bedroom. Have a cool or warm drink ready for him. Arrange his pillow and offer to take off his shoes.
Speak in a low, soft, soothing and pleasant voice. Allow him to relax and unwind.

8. Listen to him: You may have a dozen things to tell him, but the moment of his arrival is not the time. Let him talk first.

9. Make the evening his: Never complain if he does not take you out to dinner or to other places of entertainment; instead, try to understand his world of strain and pressure, his need to be home and relax.

10. The goal: Try to make your home a place of peace and order where your husband can relax.

I just had to laugh at this. If I put a ribbon in my hair and met DH at the door he may just may have me committed. LOL

I found this cake while reading the news online today. I think everyone should make one. LOL

This layered cake made up of turkey and stuffing. Frosted with both mashed potatoes and sweet potatoes then topped off with mini marshmallows. Yum Yum.

I feel like that Turkey in the pic above. Running around in a car made from Corn. :)

I managed to get all of the Christmas decorations out today. Now I just need to hang,scatter,fluff,stage,and put it all together.

I also found a bag of stockings I had bought last year during the after Christmas sales. I forgot all about them and am pleased as punch to have them now to hang. I hope to find more treasures as I'm unpacking everything.

I'm looking forward to seeing all of my favorite ornies that my daughters made when they were younger. You know the Christmas garland made from Fruit Loops and the Christmas tree's with enough glitter on them to compete with Vegas...LOL....but boy oh boy do they bring tears to my eyes every year with remembering my babies. Now my daughters are grown and Christmas for them doesn't quite have the magic it once did. But I'm hopeful my girls will feel the magic again soon.

Last minute Details....

I had to laugh at the comments on the last pot. I too was thinking if I knew 144 I would have to go back to high school and count all the kids in my class. :)

Picked up my Turkey today. Organic and fresh it will be a welcomed main dish come Thursday. Tonight I will make a check list and tomorrow run out and get anything still needed for Thurday's dinner. I have learned not to run out last minute in our small town because once the shelves are empty they stay that way.

The one odd thing I will make for Turkey day is Pineapple Upside Down cupcakes. Perhaps not odd but not the typical dessert for the holidays but it has been requested and who am I to question it?

Are you or yours making anything unusual for Thanksgiving? Do you watch the Macy's Day Parade? Will you be shopping on Black Friday?

While at the post office yesterday the lady in front of me was mailing off 144 Christmas cards. I haven't even started writing mine. Then this morning at the local drug store I over heard 3 women saying they had finished all of their Christmas shopping and two even had everything wrapped. Me? Nada again!! LOL Perhaps I need to get with the program and check a couple things off my Holiday check list everyday. Oh wait I haven't made out my holiday check list. ;(

Are you finished with your holiday shopping and cards? Have you started or are you like me and hope that Santa will lend you a couple of elves? LOL

I haven't put in one stitch today so I plan to make up for it tomorrow.

Angel of Peace Christmas Stocking

I'm hoping to order this chart from 123stitch.com but it calls for Sparrow linen which 123 doesn't have so I was wondering if any of you know of a linen fabric that closely matches the color shown on the chart that I could order from 123 stitch?
I would greatly appreciate any help on this. I have never stitched a stocking for myself and decided to stitch this design because it jumped out at me.

What are your weekend plans? I will be raking the last of the leaves,baking,cleaning the house and getting some stitching time clocked in.

Cold, wet and rainy in my neck of the woods. But a perfect day to complete three more stitched gifts. I plan to run out tomorrow and shop for wrapping paper.
This year I'm making a very conscious effort to not to get sucked into the "marketing of Christmas". Most of my gifts will be homemade-handmade and from the heart. The only gifts that will be store bought will be for the wee little ones in my life. I have yet to master making toys and books. lol

I so wish I had a LNS near me. My nearest LNS is located about 75 miles from me. I had a stressful day today and just thinking about visiting an LNS made me smile and relax a bit. Even if I didn't buy anything just to be around all the finished models,new designs and being around others who understand the passion of stitching would be therapy for me. I do appreciate the on-line shops but seeing something in person and talking to someone about anything and everything stitching related is no comparison.

How far or near is your LNS? Do you do more shopping at the brick and mortar or online?

Thanks for the great ideas about filling the stitching tins. I'm making a few more of these this weekend.

Stitching Tins ................

Raining and cold here today so I wrapped up in my most comfy sweater, made a pot of tea, and stitched for most of the afternoon. I know that some women love to go on vactations, the spa or even shopping but I love to stitch. Pure therapy and gratifying.

For a few of my Christmas gifts this year I'm making a handy dandy stitching tin. I will include scissors, floss/thread wax, a pack of needles, needle threader and magnet. Can you think of anything else I might add that would fit in the tin? The tin are the size of Altoid mint tins.

How are you doing on your holiday stitching? I really need to start putting together the ornaments I stitched.

Heading over too read my blogs I follow and make another pot of Green Tea.

The Furnace Saga...Part 2..........

Thank you all so uch for your kind words and encouragement. The Regional manager showed up and started apologizing right away. He promised me that for now on he would be the one to deal with me and our furnace. He seemed very sincere and stayed over an 90 minutes talking and listening to me. He looked over our furnace and concluded that only the Wheel Bearings need to be replaced which will take about 2 hours. No need for new furnace as the other technician had told me. Parts will be ordered and we will see see from there when it gets fixed. I did appreciate that he took the time to show me the problem and explained in detail how it will be fixed by him!! Unfortunatly I have become a "lesson" for the other two techs about what not to do and say during a "call" but at least maybe no one else will have to go through what I have with this company.

Again thank you all so much for the love. I felt strong and confident and didn't hold anything back.

Treated Poorly.................

Tomorrow is a day I'm dreading because... well because I will once again be treated like a "dumb female". I don;t use that term loosely I in fact hate that term but I can see it when certain people look and talk to you like you don't know nothing so don't question anything. Long and I mean long story quick here are the important facts:
*End of Sept. we had our furnace Cleaned and tuned up for winter. After a bit of banging and vacuuming I was told that the furnace looked great and was ready to go!
*Two days later while folding towel the furnace BLEW or should I say exploded and sent me literally flying to the floor not to mention hitting the door first. I still have a huge bruise on my shoulder from where I hit into the door and then landed on shoulder while falling on floor.
*Fire Department came-Gas explosion in Furnace was determined
*Heating and air Co. came out to investigate that same day and with-in two minutes the regional manager found that the Gas Valve had a leak. He admitted that the guy who came out to do the tune-up should have seen that and was going to have "a talking to" to said employee.
*Gas valve was replaced two day later with no charge for labor just parts.Just parts was EXPENSIVE!
*A month or so later another cold spell so furnace was turned on and made an awful noise while shutting off.
*Another visit by new worker at same heating and air company and was told that there was no noise that he could hear but he oiled it just in case. By the way I heard the noise while standing next to him and he told me what I was hearing was normal. I have lived here for 15 years and that noise is not normal I told him but again and he said it normal and that the new gas valve may play a part in the noise I'm hearing.
* Three days later the noise started getting worse so hubby calls company and the original worker who had let the leaking gas valve go unnoticed showed up. He apologized right away and explained that when he was hammering the stuck valve on the original part he must have cracked it. YES HE ADMITTED IT!!
He turned on the furnace and heard the noise and said it was a bearing in the fan wheel and that it should be replaced with either a re-built fan wheel or replaced with an entirely new furnace.
He then said that he would have the regional come by for estimate.
*Five days later I called company and asked just exactly when regional manager was due to stop by and secretary didn't know anything about but would have him stop by Monday.

Yes tomorrow the Monday I'm dreading because this company with it's Grade A from the BBB and years in service treats me like a no nothing. Unfortunately my DH's job is a 7:00 a.m til 5:00 p.m six days a week job and he can't be here to deal with this company. We live in a county that has two choices for this type of repair and unfortunately the other company has a bad reputation.

I honestly feel like they look at me and treat me like a "typical dumb female" some men have the mentality to think of women who question them and their skills.

I have repeated this story to church members, friends and family and everyone agrees that this company should have STEPPED UP and paid for repairs,refunded the Cleaning and Tune-up payment and APOLOGIZE to me for what I went through when the furnace blew.

I feel so abused by this company. I feel like I'm not valued.

Please wish me luck and give me courage.

I have had the pleasure of seeing quite a few Antique Samplers and I find myself always in awe how these women and children stitched not only with precision but also with materials that have stood the test of time. Indian Summer......

Sunscreen on and rake in hand I battled the yard and I think I won. LOL You know when it's warmer outside then in your home something is amiss. Ahhh but this is typical Ohio weather. Found out we will have to have our furnace replaced. The down side to this is having to have everything out of our utility room including water softener system moved out. We have had 3 different men from the mechanical company come out and have had three different opinions on how to go about having our furnace problem solved. I told my DH I'm thankful these men don't have to operate on me. LOL All I can do at this point is laugh and get out my electric portable ENERGY EFFICIENT heaters I bought last month.

Tonight I'm starting on a new Brooke Books Design Christmas ornament. Can't wait to start stitching on the perforated paper.

Picked up this little Lady Quaker WIP and started on it today. I had no intention of working on this but I was organizing and next thing I knew it was in my hands and my needle took over. I eventually want to buy and start the companion piece to Lady Quaker. Maybe after the holidays I will make the plunge.

Tomorrow we are expecting temps in the 70's. Last week we had frost and freezing temps and now I can work on my tan. LOL No tanning in my future but a little more yard work is always welcome therapy.

Now I'm off to watch Dancing with the Stars and organize my floss boxes.

Storage Ideas needed.......

How do you store you trims and ribbons? Currently I have some in jars and some on hangers in my closet but I'm looking for a more efficient way to store them. I'm tired of when looking for a particular ribbon or trim I have to sort through spool after spool. Don't get me wrong I realize that this a great problem to have by having a big selection of ribbons but I just want to be able to find what I need a little quicker.

I'm back to stitching on Pat Thode's Santa. I had put him away while working on gifts but mow that I am caught up Santa is back in my hands.

DMC label jar............

I have an Orts jar and a DMC label jar but I don't know why!! LOL. I have no clue as to what I will do with these labels. I have seen them put into clear glass lamp bases and I have seen them stuffed into clear Christmas ornaments but I have no plans to use them in this matter so I keep collecting just waiting for inspiration to hit me.

Do you collect anything related to stitching that other stitchers might not?

I had a beautiful Sunday with DH and DD. I made a huge pot of veggie chili, cornbread and we had German chocolates for a sweet treat.
Tonight I hope to watch PBS Masterpiece Theater's Sherlock Holmes and finish up a Pumpkin I'm stitching to add to my pathetic Thanksgiving ornament collection.

Why do you Blog?

I think it was last week maybe the week before when I came across a post on a very well known cross stitch board talking about "not getting" why someone blogs. I read through all the posts and was very surprised that some people were critical in someone blogging about their lives,hobbies and whatnot. I don't think I have ever read a blog and thought that it was useless, perhaps not my cup of tea but I do try and take something from each blog I read.

I blog because it's my only way of communicating with fellow stitching lovers. My DH is a great man but he doesn't get what's it like to start a new project and put the last stitch in on something I've been working on for days. I also find blogging even if it's a paragraph gives me some "ME" time to just stop and reflect on an event or idea.I also love the comments I receive. Sometimes that "pat on the back" makes my heart sing for days. Sharing with each other I think is also such a beautiful gift to give.
I have never read through my Must Read Blogs and not felt inspired. The only downside to reading blogs for me is that I have a longer Must Stitch list. LOL

Funny thing is that most of the people on that cross stitch message board leave comments and posts about their lives, hobbies and whatnot, just not on a blog but on the message board itself..

So why do you blog?

Thank you for Recipes!!

I woke up this morning and had 23 cookies recipes in my e-mail and a handful more in the cooments section. Thank you all so much. There are definetly some I have never tried, some I have never heard of and some that are on the border of being illegal. LOL I'm looking forward to trying them.
Today I baked Zucchini bread using applesauce in stead of oil and WOW is all I can say. So moist and knowing that it's oil free makes me happy to serve it to my family.

Here in my neck of the woods we woke up to a rain and snow mix. I have my snow shovel ready. LOL

On the stitching front I ironed 7 ornaments today and added the interfacing all all of them now I just have to stitch them together.

WANTED: Chistmas Cookie Recipes

This year I'm planning on baking up baskets of cookies for family BUT I'm looking for great cookie recipes. I want my cookie baskets to feature unique tasting cookies. Not the typical chocolate chip cookies. Soooooooo I'm asking you if you have a recipe or two to share with me.I would appreciate it so much.

I went grocery shopping tonight and picked up all the dry ingredients I will need for Thanksgiving dinner. DH is going to order an organic Turkey from a great turkey farm he knows.
